I didn't see the show, but I have seen rooms that I thought that, wow that would be a pefect doll room.

Did anyone here enter the HGTV Dream Home contest for this year? I did. That home is absolutely gorgeous. And I already know which room would be my doll room. The Exercise Studio. First of all, I want the view. The room is big enough for me to keep my treadmill and weight machine. Plus there's lots of space to put up shelves around the room to hold bins of AG stuff. And it's right next to the Family Room where the boy would be playing. They would have their room and I would have mine. Hmm, then again, there's the Bunkroom. Or maybe the Project Room? I guess I can't decide which room would be the doll room. Which room would you choose?

That house is BEAUTIFUL!
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It sure is! It's amazing that HGTV actually gives away a house every year. They've been doing it for years and I think only two winners have been able to afford to keep the house. The taxes are way too high usually.Originally posted by AGfanatic91:

The thing I wish for most in a doll room is floor space. All the clothes and accessories should be easily accessible in closets and shelves. But floor space is where all the doll play will take place.

UNBELIEVABLY BEAUTIFUL!!!
All of the sudden, I feel like a pauper in my tiny studio apartment. [img]graemlins/broken_heart.gif[/img]
Yes, that house is gorgeous, and I entered almost every day! But if I win, Julia, I'll let you come up and play, okay?
My brother actually WON a house and he lives it in! Not one from HGTV, but from the YMCA. In NE Ohio the Lake County Y always does a house thing, just like HGTV. Only they do it by raffle ticket. This was ten years ago, the first time they did the project. The Y donated the land and then builders and designers donated all their time as well. Raffle tickets were $10 each. My brother was selling cars at the time and sold a car to someone who said, "OK, now you have to buy a raffle ticket from me to support the Y"...so he did. He never even saw the house!
They narrowed the raffle tickets down to 20 people. Then 2 weeks later, those 20 people all got to pull a key out of a bag in the number that they were called in. My brother was #13, grabbed out a key, went to the front door, and UNLOCKED it!
He won a 2500sq ft house, completely newly furnished, but yes, had to pay the taxes, which meant he would still have a mortgage. But geez, the mortgage was nothing compared to the value of the house and furnishings.
I think only one other person in the last ten years now has decided to keep the house like my brother did, the others have sold it immediately and then pocketed the profit.
How lucky can some people get!

The house is absolutely gorgeous. My mom and I entered once each every day from almost the start of the competition.
I get the top floor if we win, .
I absolutely LOVE the room with the sleep porch, I've already decided that's where my dolls would live if we won the house, lol! The Project Room is my second choice if it turns out I want to use the Attic room as my regular bedroom.
How adorable is the room with the levels and levels of bunkbeds? SOOOO cute, and would be the best room ever for sleepovers, . If anyone here wins, they'll have to host an AGHB sleepover in that room.
Beautiful house. I don't live far from last years winner, and he has had nothing but trouble! The taxes on the 1.5 million dollar house is over $650,000! The poor guys tried everything to keep it. He wanted to rent part of it out, but city wouldn't let him. He doesn't even own the land the house sits on, the city does.
I think the last I heard he had finally decided to put the house up for sale...wise decision since I'm sure they would have no qualms about taking that house over for the back taxes!!!
That would be such a disappointment to win a house and then have to give it up because of taxes, upkeep, etc. Sure, you could probably make a tidy profit by selling it. But it's a shame to win something, and want to keep it, but you can't.
My favorite part about that house is the windows! And the views! I think me and my dollies would be happy in any room in a place like that.
